Basic Purpose:
Under the direction of the manager, plan, organizes and sets priorities of day-to-day operations to meet departmental goals and objectives. Supervises, mentor and motivate Materials Management employees to ensure all tasks are complete.
Primary Duties:
Supervises staff and provides input into employee relations functions, such as performance appraisals, recognition, hiring process, discipline, and performance improvement. Develops and adjusts work schedules and job functions to meet the needs of the department. Identifies quality improvement initiatives. Collaborates with department leadership in development, implementation, and monitoring. Assists in monitoring and investigating supply cost variances using best practice benchmarking tools. Provides visibility and guidance to management on improvements in this area. Assists with total cost analyses of agreements and monitors on-going impact. Collaborates with team members in meeting departmental goals. Establishes and maintains mechanism for communication and constructive problem-solving with employees, medical staff, other healthcare professionals and other staff. Utilizes a team approach in decision-making and problem-solving. Build trust and mutual respect. Supports and promotes model for decision-making. Functions as a resource for maintaining applicable Materials Management information systems. Make recommendations to manager for process improvements with regards to Materials Management information systems. Reviews orders for supplies, material, capital equipment and/or services based on established ProMedica contract standards. Assists in data collection/verification of funding and budgetary expenses. Acts on behalf of the manager in their absence and acts as a resource to department staff and customers. Leads and assists in project teams, educational programs, in-services, and meetings, as required. Performs other duties as assigned
