Supply Technician (Office Automation) - DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY

The primary purpose of this position is to perform tasks associated with supply operations & materiel control support pertaining to specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts requiring unusual degrees of protection in shipment and storage, or other items that are unique to the organization's mission. Conducts extensive searches for information pertaining to complex and/or unusual supply transactions and patterns. Determines stock levels needed for non-recurring, specialized items based on usage, inventory, project demands, seasonal demands, changing customer needs, and projected depletion. Provides supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for equipment and/or parts requiring special handling. Performs administrative office support function; use multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents and databases. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management positions located here SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of general experience at the next lower broadband NJ-01 or equivalent to the next lower grade GS-04 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience performing tasks associated with supply operations. Retrieve data and use data to respond to customers. Determines and establishes new procedures. Coordinates actions with supply units and/or contractors. Prepares recurring-and special reports. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Must have thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions; knowledge of supply functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods; knowledge of data entry and processing of supply transaction in an automated supply system. Must have intensive knowledge of local supply requirements to ensure supply support for test operations, overhaul, repair, or other operations for urgent critical shortages and other special items. Ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable reference material, such as supply regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc., to accomplish tasks and resolve complex supply problems; ability to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve complex supply problems and/or deviate from normal supply management procedures or program requirements. Ability to receive, screen, review, and verify supply documents and resolve discrepancies. Knowledge of office automation software procedures and functions keys to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts, and to update and revise existing databases or spreadsheets. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
