Job Title: MEA Support Assistant

Location: MEA Witbank Office and MEA Johannesburg Office        

\n

PURPOSE OF POSITION                              

\n

The Cleaner plays a crucial role in creating a safe, clean, and pleasant environment for all employees and visitors. This comprehensive list of responsibilities ensures high standards of cleanliness, safety, and organization throughout the office.      

\n

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES                               

\n

Opening and Closing Procedures:                                        

\n\nUnlock all doors at the start of the day and lock them at the end of business hours to secure the premises                                \nVerify that all office spaces, meeting rooms, and storage areas are securely locked after cleaning or before leaving for the day                                      \n\n

General Office Cleaning and Maintenance:                                      

\n\nDust and sanitize all work surfaces, including desks, tables, shelves, and cabinets                                   \nVacuum and clean carpets and rugs to remove dust, dirt, and debris. Conduct deep carpet cleaning as needed                             \nWipe down all glass surfaces, including windows, mirrors, and glass doors, to ensure they are spotless and streak-free                                        \nClean printers, computers, and office equipment to prevent dust buildup and improve longevity                                \nSanitize door handles, light switches, and shared office equipment to maintain a hygienic workspace                                         \n\n

Kitchen and Appliance Cleaning:                            

\n\nClean and disinfect all kitchen surfaces, including countertops, sinks, and backsplashes                             \nEmpty and clean the refrigerator and microwave weekly to prevent odors and food buildup                              \nSanitize small appliances (e.g., coffee machine, toaster) after daily use and ensure they are turned off and unplugged if required                                 \nWash and organize all kitchenware, including plates, utensils, and mugs, daily                                     \n\n

Restroom and Sanitation Maintenance:                             

\n\nClean and disinfect toilets, sinks, and counters to ensure a hygienic environment                                  \nRefill soap, toilet paper, hand towels, and other necessary supplies as needed to avoid shortages                                  \nCheck and clean restroom bins regularly, replacing liners and disposing of trash appropriately                             \nConduct regular checks throughout the day to ensure restrooms are tidy, stocked, and safe to use                                          \n\n

Plant and Greenery Care:                                       

\n\nWater indoor plants regularly and check soil moisture to maintain plant health                                    \nRemove dead leaves and report any signs of pest infestations or plant health concerns to management                                \n\n

Meeting Room Preparation and Refreshments:                              

\n\nSet up coffee, tea, water, and snacks for meetings, ensuring refreshments are available and neatly presented                                          \nCheck that meeting rooms are clean and organized before and after each use                                \nClean whiteboards, replace markers if needed, and ensure all presentation equipment is ready                                          \n\n

Inventory Management and Office Supplies:                                   

\n\nMonitor and order office supplies (e.g., stationery, paper towels, toiletries) to prevent shortages                              \nOrganize storage areas to ensure supplies are accessible and accounted for                                \nWork with office management to keep track of inventory levels and make recommendations for bulk purchases if necessary                              \n\n

Health and Safety Compliance:                              

\n\nWear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves, masks, and any other necessary gear, depending on tasks                                          \nReport any unsafe conditions or acts observed within the office, such as spills, broken equipment, or potential hazards, to management promptly                                         \nFollow proper disposal procedures for hazardous materials (if any) and use safe cleaning products in designated areas only                              \n\n

Storage and Cupboard Maintenance:                                 

\n\nClean and organize all storage cupboards and cabinets regularly, ensuring all items are neatly arranged and accessible                                   \nRotate supplies as needed, checking for expiration dates on any items (e.g., cleaning agents) and ensuring expired products are disposed of safely                                 \n\n

Waste Management:                                 

\n\nEmpty trash bins daily throughout the office, restrooms, kitchen, and common areas                                     \nSeparate recyclables from general waste and place them in designated recycling bins                                         \nEnsure all waste is disposed of according to office protocols and local waste disposal regulations                             \n\n

Specialized Cleaning Tasks:                                     

\n\nDeep clean hard floors by mopping, polishing, or buffing as required                                          \nClean air vents and filters to promote better air quality within the office                                 \nSpot clean carpets, upholstery, and high-traffic areas as needed to maintain a fresh appearance.                                  \n\n
