Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
The support engineer works with the launch processing teams to generate documentation, improve procedures, and communicate with a multi-disciplinary team. This role will be responsible for supporting satellite process development and operational troubleshooting.
The ideal candidate is comfortable in a highly technical setting and leads collaboration with other departments to reach the best solution to any problem. The candidate will have experience with mechanical and electrical equipment used for aerospace hardware integration and test, with particular focus on satellite processing.
Key job responsibilities
- Generate documentation necessary to support production including the creation of Manufacturing Execution System work instructions, flight and non-flight integration procedures, and nonconformance reports/resolutions
- Maintain and manage various media required for daily production (i.e. work instructions, drawings, procedures)
- Communicate with a muli-disiplanary team to coordinate manufacturing operations
- Maintain accountability of production and traceability records ensuring all product specifications and requirements are met
- Read, review, and aid in the development of mechanical and electrical drawings
- Support process development and execution for satellite assembly builds and testing process flows
- Support the development of the tooling and test equipment required for production and test phases
- Troubleshoot real-time manufacturing issues/nonconformances
- Collect and incorporate feedback from production technicians to continuously improve work instructions
- Maintain SOPs and update when needed for evolving processes & new requirements
A day in the life
The support engineer will work closely with technicians and engineers to develop processes and procedures, implement lessons learned and updates, and support operations. This position requires skill and experience in a variety of areas, including mechanical assembly, propellant loading, rigging, electrical checkouts and satellite troubleshooting.

Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of software development, or 2+ years of technical support experience
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Ability to pass Kennedy Space Center background checks
- Valid Driver’s license and able to satisfy Amazon driver eligibility criteria
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Passport
- Ability and willingness to comply with the Government of French Guiana which mandates that travelers receive vaccinations for yellow fever
- With or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to lift up to 49 pounds on some occasions, stand/walk for up to 8-10 hours (with breaks), and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of technical support experience
