Summary:

The Support Tech will assist the housekeeping and nursing staff to provide quality care to patients in a timely, accurate and consistent manner to assist the resident in achieving maximum independence, social interaction, sense of identity and choice. Provides the highest quality direct care in a timely, efficient, accurate, and safe and consistent professional manner. Provides Quality Service in accordance with policies and procedures with dignity, respect and privacy. Maintains a safe, secure and clean environment for all customers. Actively participates in quality initiatives that improve the healthcare status of those we serve.

 

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities:
Consults with the supervising nurse and housekeeping supervisor if there is an area the Support Tech feels uncomfortable with skills and asks for additional education in those areas. Collaborates with  Team Leader in developing and support work assignments.Speaks to patients in a pleasant helpful manner. Models professionalism in communication using sensitivity, active listening techniques, and diplomacy with all customers.Understands and implements the principals of infection control, consistently using standard precautions and washes hands after each patient contact. Follows isolation precautions, using and disposing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Provides patients privacy by knocking on doors and greeting patients prior to entering room. Provides assistance to transport patients via wheelchair at time of discharge. Recommended to participate in CPR education. Has participated in evacuation/fire drills.Assist with delivery, pick up trays,  documentation of meals, nourishments, and snacks and fluids as appropriate. Provides fresh water to patients without restrictions/NPO status. Maintains a clean and safe work environment for patients and staff. Assists with bed making and maintains cleanliness of the patient room. Reports and removes any equipment that is not functioning properly. Acts to prevent accidents and incidents.Assists in answering call lights and addressing patient needs promptly and/or communicating to appropriate staff to meet the patient needs. Promptly reports requests for care to CNA or Nurse when request is outside of Support Tech training.Actively participates in nursing department meetings, town meetings, employee opinion survey, provide communication and feedback with development, implementation and evaluation of delivery of care, RMC health system initiatives.
