Job Summary:                                                   

CASES is a New York City agency working at the forefront of the intersection between behavioral health and involvement in the criminal justice system. Our mission is to increase public safety through innovative services that reduce crime and incarceration, improve behavioral health, promote recovery and rehabilitation, and create community success opportunities. The Behavioral Health division consists of a continuum of services for justice-involved individuals with serious mental illness; The Nathaniel Clinic is an OMH-licensed MHOTRS clinic that provides outpatient mental health services to adolescents and adults, with a focus on providing care to those involved in the criminal legal system.

The Supported Education & Employment Specialist will work as part of a small multidisciplinary team providing coordinated and assertive treatment in the earliest stages of illness. Supported Education & Employment Specialists are fully integrated into providing mental health services. Individual Placement Support is an evidence-based approach to assisting individuals with mental illness to obtain rapid, competitive employment and mainstream educational opportunities.

Shift Hours: Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Salary:  The salary range for this role is $50,000 - $60,000.

Location Address: 424 East 147th Street, 2nd Floor, Bronx, NY 10455. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation.


Workplace Flexibility: Flexible - Staff have flexibility to complete their work day from home or another suitable space, typically after reporting to the office and/or engaging in field or community-based work.

What you will be doing: 

Engaging participants and establishing trusting, collaborative relationships directed toward the goal of education or competitive employment in community job settings.Based on the participant’s preferences, working closely with family members or loved ones to educate them on how to support the young person with work/school goals.Helping family or loved ones navigate employment and educational systems, identify resources that can be helpful to them, and/or providing other support to families as needed to help the young person with their recovery.Providing job development and job search services directed toward positions that are individualized to the interests and uniqueness of the people on their situation and the situation of their support system, following the principles and procedures of the individual placement and support approach to supported employment.Linking transitioning participants to services that can support work and school goals post-discharge from OnTrackNY.Spending 65% or more of scheduled work hours in the community.Conducting a minimum of 4 (IPS is 6) employer contacts per week.Providing individualized support to assist participants in maintaining employment or education.Arranging access to entitlements counseling for the individual and/or family.

What we are looking for: 

BA in a mental health-related field, social services, or business.

Preferred but not required:

Training and experience working with adolescents and/or young adults with serious mental illness.Experience providing employment or education services.
