Working under the supervision of the Director of Housing and Vocational Rehabilitation Services, the Supportive Living Peer acts as a role model, using their personal recovery experience to inspire and empower clients. This position focuses on guiding clients in developing independence, managing their recovery, and building life skills within a residential setting. Must-Have Qualifications: + High School Diploma or GED equivalent. + Valid NYS Driver’s License. + Lived experience in mental health or substance use recovery, or experience supporting someone in recovery. + Willingness to participate in peer certification training and obtain CRPA-P certification within four months of employment. Nice-to-Have Qualifications: + Certified Peer Support Specialist (NYCPS) through OMH or OASAS. + Certified Peer Advocate (CRPA) certification. Job Requirements: Key Responsibilities: + Actively participate as a member of each client’s treatment team, attending meetings and contributing to treatment planning. + Assist clients in developing personalized recovery plans, including crisis plans to support ongoing stability. + Deliver psychoeducation with a focus on illness management and recovery skills, using one-on-one sessions. + Implement and coordinate individualized recovery plans that encourage personal growth and independence. + Serve as a positive role model by sharing personal recovery experiences and teaching clients effective coping strategies. + Provide case management support, including resource navigation and service coordination as part of client care. + Maintain accurate records and documentation to support client progress and planning. + Advocate on behalf of clients, helping them access resources and navigate systems. + Communicate relevant client issues to supervisors and treatment team members as needed. + Complete ongoing training requirements to maintain peer certification. + Apply crisis intervention techniques and engage clients early in their recovery journey to foster positive outcomes. + Conduct outreach to clients who may struggle with engagement in treatment. + For Tier 2 peers, demonstrate leadership by mentoring and supporting Tier 1 peers within the agency. + Perform additional duties as assigned to support FLACRA’s mission and values. Skills & Experience: + Must be 18 years of age or older. + Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. + Understanding of recovery principles and ability to relate to the client population. + Ability to manage multiple tasks, solve problems effectively, and maintain composure in crisis situations.
