Summary This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D1291000 and is part of the NJ CSMS B, National Guard. The purpose of this position is to supervise workers directly or through subordinate leaders and/or supervisors in accomplishing work of the function. The occupation and non-supervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Surface Maintenance Mechanic, WS-5801-11. Responsibilities As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-5801-11, you will: Plan use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis. Coordinate work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors. Assigns tasks to be performed based on readiness and explains work requirements, methods, and procedures. Ensure equipment repairs do not exceed maintenance expenditure limits in accordance as established by regulation and or policies. Perform non-supervisory work, such as, transporting equipment, performing maintenance tasks, etc. Develop, publish, and ensure employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised. Ensure the employees wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Prepare for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Performs other duties as assigned. Additional Employment Requirements: Participation in direct deposit is mandatory May be required to complete a probationary period successfully Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have the following experience(s): Organizing assignments for subordinates Estimating material and manpower needs for specific jobs Explain manuals and work procedures to subordinates Preparing production records, work records and reports SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 36 months of the following specialized experience: Diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems Using diagnostic equipment Solving unusually complex maintenance and repair problem Testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems In addition to the experience above, you must also have the following experiences: Planning, directing, and organizing work assignments for lower grade personnel Reviewing work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines Supervising and/or communicating general supervisory concepts, and shop processes Adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations Education There are no education requirements for this vacancy announcement.
