Surgery Scheduler

Job Posting Title: Surgery Scheduler Location: Dallas - Hospital Additional Posting Details: Mon-Fri 8:00a-4:30p Job Description: Duties/Responsibilities + Coordinates surgery scheduling for patients/families in alignment with surgeon, OR, and hospital availability (scheduling may be elective, complex, combo, add-on, or reschedule) + Acts as liaison with patients/families and surgeons, advance-practice providers, OR staff, master OR scheduler, primary nursing care team, and/or support personnel; may include working with external surgery sites + Performs scheduling and pre-registration process for appointments for pre-screening exams, diagnostic testing, and post-operative visits related to surgery + Collaborates with Revenue Cycle for financial or authorization status for surgery; supports communication with patients/families and surgeons’ care teams and OR staff about financial or authorization status and effects on surgery plans + Verifies surgical documents and data, including surgical consent, in advance of surgery date/time + Monitors OR block time to achieve high level of resource utilization in support of organizational goals and metrics; maintains awareness and support of case allocation to surgeons’ block times + Screens and routes inbound/outbound calls in a timely manner; creates telephone encounters as necessary + Abides by organizational and HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality, and patient rights + Obtains accurate collection of patient demographics, insurance coverage, and other relevant information + Promotes and assists patients/families in signing up for MyChart + Maintains and distributes incoming departmental faxes + Maintains and acts on individual email and InBasket pools and messages + Scans clinical record information and correspondence into patient’s electronic record + Maintains assigned work queues in Epic + Maintains patient information and documentation in electronic medical record Required Skills/Abilities + High school diploma or equivalent required + Minimum 2-years’ experience in contact center, medical office, or healthcare setting required, with at least 2-years’ experience in a surgical specialty + Strong written and verbal communication skills required + Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required Working Environment + Working Conditions: Inside + Working Position: Sitting + Physical Demands: Sedentary + Physical Requirements: Repetitive Movements + Lifting or carrying up to 10 lbs. + Sensory/Communicative activities essential to the performance of this position: Hearing, Seeing, and Speaking + This position will be exposed to Inside Environments At Scottish Rite for Children, we work together with the common goal of helping give children back their childhood.
