Surgery Scheduler
Overview Coordinates surgery and/or procedure scheduling. Will assist with required pre-certification when applicable and consent forms. Provides patient education relating to surgery/procedure. RMB Clinic, Rockford IL 80 Hours/2 Weeks Monday-Friday, Day Shift Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate surgery/procedure schedule and communicates with physician pertinent medical information needing attention prior to surgery. Where applicable, order necessary surgical supplies or equipment where not provided by surgery department (i.e.: implants, bariatric beds, etc.). Coordinates and communicates pertinent information regarding surgery with vendor. Perform pre-certification per written request of provider and insurance company requirements when applicable. Ensures all required consent forms have been signed. Schedules pre and post-op appointments for patient, including history and physical, pre-anesthesia assessment, and other appointments as needed. Provide patients and families with general information and answer general questions regarding surgery/procedure and preparation requirements, documenting each encounter. Refer medical questions or concerns to appropriate medical staff. Confirm next day surgery/procedure schedule with hospital and patient. Assist with quality data abstraction and report generation as requested. Assist with Receptionist duties as needed. Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent Completion of Medical Terminology course or two years medical office, medical billing or coding experience preferred. Minimum one year experience with data entry/databases and telephone customer service. Knowledge of Epic preferred. Medical front office experience, including scheduling appointments and working with insurance billing preferred. Certification/Licensure Coding certification preferred. Manual dexterity needed to operate telephone and keyboard.
