Responsibilities

The Scheduling Specialist position requires the utilization of clinical knowledge to schedule appropriate procedures/surgeries according to both the physician orders and schedule availability. This individual works closely with physicians, physician office staff, and internal/external customers to provide accurate, timely, and responsive information in accordance with hospital core values and policies. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that organizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.The Surgery Scheduler may also perform a variety of other duties including but not limited to collecting and updating demographics and insurance information verification of health plan eligibility taking complete and accurate messages and scheduling mutually acceptable appointment times utilizing an electronic practice management system. The Surgery
Scheduler may also be asked to perform other clerical duties as needed and requested to support daily clinic operation goals, bench marks and quality patient care initiatives per departmental guidelines.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

High school graduate or general equivalency3-5 years of recent surgery scheduling. 6 months experience with Iqueue or other surgical scheduling softwareHigh school graduate or general equivalency.Completion of medical certification or degree, i.e, medical assistant certification, medical reception degree or medical coding
