Responsible for scheduling surgical procedures, special procedures and GI Lab procedures. Properly completes scheduling of surgical procedures based on room and equipment availability and other requirements for the procedure. Informs appropriate personnel if specialty equipment or supplies are required. Verifies conflicts or other scheduling problems. Contacts personnel regarding additions or cancellations affecting schedule. Maintains knowledge of current listing of surgeons classification to ensure quality of patient care.  

Responsibilities

Communications with all surgical team members.

Answers telephone using proper methods and relays messages correctly and in a timely manner.

Schedules O.R. procedures with physicians offices and other departments.

Properly completes scheduling of surgical procedures based on room and equipment availability and other requirements for the procedure.Informs OR materials manager if specialty equipment or supplies are required.Verifies conflicts or other scheduling prolems with OR manager or designee.Properly types and distrubutes surgical schedule to appropriate departments.Elective procedures scheduled a requested times as much as possible.Contacts surgeon and/or office personnel regarding additions or cancellations affecting their schedule.

Maintains current listing of surgeons and suspension list.

Maintains knowledge of current listing of surgeons classifications to ensure quality of patient care.Maintain current knowledge of suspension lists.Maintains current knowledge of proctor status of new surgeons.

Performs other clerical duties as required.

Prepares and maintains required statistics.Coordinates operative charges with batching system in preparation for forwarding to data processing.Prepares all additional reports as necessary.
