Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.

2. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
3. Navigators use surgical home resources, ie. Information technology and co-workers to facilitate the appropriate and timely care of the surgical home pt and family.
4. Navigators coordinate and guide the patient through surgical home and the perioperative period to include morning of surgery.
5. Navigators provide guidance, educational, and emotional support to patients and families before and during surgical stay.
6. Serve as liaison to patients, physicians and other interdisciplinary team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
7. Must have strong communication and listening skills
8. Along with excellent phone etiquette with “executive voice” in mind.
9. Must be able to cover skills as described in surgical home secretary and surgical intake specialist.
10. Must be cross trained within 6 months.
11. Patient Navigators help patients “navigate” the maze of clinics, administrative systems and patient support services. Navigators reduce the barriers that keep patients from getting timely treatment by identifying patient needs and directing them to sources of emotional, financial, administrative, or cultural support.
