This role will be responsible for reviewing and accurately coding office, hospital, and procedures for reimbursement. The Physician Practice Surgical Coder will also be committed to ensuring accurate and compliant medical coding for both inpatient and outpatient services, diagnostic tests, and other medical services rendered to each patient. The coder is responsible for the review of patient medical records, including test orders, and accurately assigning ICD10 CM diagnoses codes, CPT-4 Evaluation and Management codes and procedural codes. The incumbent should be able to effectively communicate with medical staff other departments. Qualifications Minimum Education: High School graduate with courses in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, ICD-9 and ICD -10, E&M Coding and CPT-4 coding. Minimum Experience: 1 year of recent professional coding experience and surgical experience required. Required Certification/Registration: Required 1 of the following: CPC (Certified Professional Coder), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Physical Requirements: Sitting, walking, and standing for short periods. Lifting of light objects no more than 25 pounds. Working Conditions: • Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well- lighted, heated or ventilated facility. No routine exposure to hazards. • Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Ability to lift 10 lbs. • Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
