Surgical Pathologist

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center is looking for a board certified surgical pathologist, who is qualified to obtain a medical license in Massachusetts, to join a team of twelve pathologists with a wide range of subspecialty expertise.
Fellowship training and experience in a subspecialty area of surgical pathology, such as gastrointestinal and liver pathology, breast, or gynaecologic pathology is desired.
Responsibilities include sign-out of general surgical biopsies and resections as well as participating in autopsy and frozen section services at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center’s main campus and affiliated facilities.
Good communication skills and desire to work collaboratively with pathology staff and clinical colleagues are required.
The anatomic pathology department processes over 37,000 surgical specimens, 10,000 gynaecologic cytology and 6000 non-gynaecologic cytology specimens per year. It provides subspecialty expertise in breast pathology, GI pathology, medical renal pathology, dermatopathology, gynaecologic pathology, cytopathology, neuropathology, transplant pathology as well as hematopathology among others. In addition, it provides consultative services to other hospitals within the Beth Israel Lahey Health System.
Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, a member of Beth Israel Lahey Health, is a physician-led, multi-disciplinary group practice of over 600 physicians with more than 50 medical and surgical specialties and uses the EPIC electronic medical record. It serves 3,000 patients every day through its 334 inpatient hospital beds, ambulatory care center, 24-hour emergency department and American College of Surgeons verified level I trauma center.
