**Come work at a place where innovation and teamwork come together to support the most exciting missions in the world!** **Job Title:** Surgical Services Manager **Cost Center:** 301191311 ECHos-Surgical Svcs **Scheduled Weekly Hours:** 40 **Employee Type:** Regular **Work Shift:** Variable (United States of America) **Job Description:** *****May be eligible for sign-on bonus***** **JOB SUMMARY** The Manager-Surgery oversees and manages the day-to-day operations of the Surgery Center and facilitates connections between department physicians, administration and outside agencies. The individual is responsible for providing patients the highest quality and safest surgical experience possible. The Manager-Surgery will develop and execute department strategic plans, budgets and inventory control methods, oversee and assign adequate staffing to carryout patient care procedures in a safe and cost effective manner while maintaining customer satisfaction. The individual is also responsible for developing and implementing internal and external marketing plans to generating new services for the department. **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS** 1. Collaborates with departmental physician leadership to operationalize daily and long range activities of the department. 2. Researches community, patient, Clinic and physician needs for Surgery to prepare and implement internal and external marketing programs for the departments. 3. Monitors and controls costs of operations for current budget year utilizing appropriate analysis and data, developing additional data sources as needed. Develops subsequent year’s budgets based on strategic plan and program changes. 4. Develops and implements patient care policies and procedures to comply with state and federal regulations and with safe quality care in mind. 5. Develops and actively participates in continuous quantitative and qualitative quality improvement measures to ensure safe and appropriate patient care. 6. Provides appropriate education, training opportunities for staff, clearly communicates department objectives and completes performance evaluations to ensure a well-trained informed staff to care for our patients. 7. Reviews department processes and costs of performing procedures to seek out ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining high standards of patient care and customer service satisfaction. 8. Reviews supplies and equipment expenses and educates and involves staff in cost saving measures to develop and implement programs to reduce inventory expenses. 9. Collaborates with the Medical Director and leadership to develop a strategic plan for the growth and continuing development of the department(s). 10. Represents the Clinic during internal and external meetings or committees to ensure the Clinic’s position is provided when needed and gain knowledge to utilize in Clinic activities. 11. Oversees operational staffing and nursing processes to ensure adequate staff are available and are utilizing current processes to complete patient care activities. 12. Develops a budget and implements operational efficiencies to meet and exceed budget expectations. 13. Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position. 14. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions. **ADDITIONAL DUTIES** 1. Other duties as assigned. **JOB QUALIFICATIONS** **EDUCATION** _For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation._ **Minimum Required** : Associate degree in nursing with contingency of successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in nursing within three years of hire. **Preferred/Optional:** Bachelor’s degree in nursing at time of hire. **EXPERIENCE** **Minimum Required** : Three years clinical experience in a surgical setting, plus one year experience in a leadership role (may be counted concurrently with clinical experience). **Preferred/Optional:** Three years’ management experience in a surgical setting. An understanding of the basic principles of reimbursement and regulatory issues pertaining to a hospital operating room setting. **CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES** _The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position._ **Minimum Required** : Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Nurse Compact License.
