Position: Surgical Services Support Technician

Hourly Pay Range: $17.00 - $27.32. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate’s expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Location: Chicago, IL

Per diem

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 hours (rotating shifts), rotating weekends

Required Travel: none

A Brief Summary:

Responsible for assisting in the provision of nursing care to patients as delegated by a registered nurse.  Responsible for performing tasks to support unit function.

What you will do:

Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Swedish Hospital and demonstrates a service orientation and adheres to all responsibilities and standards of the Hospital.

Transports patients to and from the Operating Room, PACU and outpatient Surgery Units.

Assists with cleaning the Holding Area, the Operating Rooms and PACU between procedures and at the end of the OR schedule.

Assists in maintenance, care and placement of equipment, instruments and supplies.  Cleans and/or assists with cleaning specialized Operating Room equipment.

Participates in interdepartmental communications, deliveries and procurement of supplies, specimens, schedules and equipment.  Coordinates with Processing and Distribution Department for the receiving and dispatching of Operating Room materials.

Participates in maintaining an environment conducive to safety, patient comfort, privacy and confidentiality.

Gives direct patient care under supervision of OR and/or PACU nurse.

Attends in-services and staff meetings.

Picking cases for next day procedures.

What you will need:

High school graduate or equivalent

Ability to interact effectively with others.

Good body mechanics and dexterity.

Ability to observe and communicate accurately.
