SUMMARY
Facilitates the operative or invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.

LOCATION: Canton-Potsdam Hospital
DEPARTMENT: Surgical Services
SCHEDULE: 3, 7.5-hour days with on call responsibilities
ATTRIBUTES
High School graduate. Graduate from a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited surgical technology program credential from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or LPN degree instead of the surgical tech certification
Required: One year of perioperative services experience
Required: Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
BLS
Certified Surgical Technology certification; or
Completed a military surgical technology program; or
Provides evidence of employment as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within the four years immediately prior to 1/1/15; or
Is in the service of the federal government, to the extent the person is performing duties related to that service
RESPONSIBILITIES
Fair share of operating room on call
Promote the mission, vision and values of CPH
Function as a scrub person during operative and invasive procedures by
Assembling supplies and equipment required for the procedure
Preparing and organizing sterile supplies and instruments for the procedure
Performing ACCOUNTING procedures in concert with the RN circulator
Assisting with placement of sterile drapes
Providing instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure
Maintaining an organized sterile field
Ensuring sterility of the field and taking corrective actions as needed
Preparing sterile dressings
Clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination area
Assist with post procedure cleaning of the operative or invasive procedure room and preparation of room for subsequent patients
Participate in ongoing educational and competency verification activities applicable to scrub person activities
Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.UNION:

PAY RANGE:
$22.20 - $31.73The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
