Job Description

Looking for Surgical Techs to join our Warsaw, IN location! 

Job Summary:  

Under the supervision of the Division Director in area of responsibility and clinical leadership of a registered nurse,  prepares the surgical suite and patient for surgery and assists the team during the procedure. 

As a CST Scrub Tech, at The Orthopedic Hospital of Indiana, you’ll play a vital role in doing what you do best - providing quality care to our patients.

Requirements: 

CST certification via NBSTSA and may consider NCCTIf graduated from an accredited surgical technology program or completion of a program provided by the US Armed Forces prior to 7/1/2009, CST certification may not be required. Current BLS certification via AHA or ARC

Schedule: PRN, M-F days, no holidays, no on call

Location: Warsaw, Indiana

About the Job: 

      Maintaining the sterile environment of the operating room      Sterilizing the equipment and operating room      Helping with preparing the patient for surgery       Gathering, counting, and arranging the equipment and surgical tools for Sx      Preparing patients for the procedure      Keeping the operating room sterile      Passing surgical tools to the surgeon and the surgeon’s assistant      Assisting in retracting tissues from the surgical patient      Counting all of the tools and instruments used during the surgery      Applying dressings to surgical sites      Disposing of needles and gauze

Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications

Education/Licensure/Registration/Certification/Experience:

Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED)Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or completion of a surgical technology program
provided by the US Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard, or commissioned corps of the
US Public Health Service. Documentation of actively practicing surgical technology in a health care
facility prior to July 1, 2009 will be accepted in lieu of these program requirements. If program graduation occurred on or after July 1, 2009, certification (CST) by the National Board of
Surgical Technology is required within 12 months from graduation date. Documentation of actively
practicing surgical technology in a health care facility prior to July 1, 2009 will be accepted in lieu of
certification requirements. Certification is not required to be maintained after initial attainment.If the CST certification requirement applies, individuals must attempt certification exam within 3 months of
date in position and will have up to six months after hire to successfully pass certification exam or must
have achieved certification within 12 months of graduation.15 continuing education hours related to the practice of surgical technology must be maintained annually
to continue employment. This is tracked within the department by management from documentation
provided by the Surg tech associate.CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) is required within three (3) months of hire and must be maintained
current.
