Position Description: Surgical Technologist Intern

Member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a RN and/or STII according to accepted clinical standards of care. This position includes all the job responsibilities of a OR Care Tech I, expanding them to an advanced level.

 

Duties include but are not limited to: established knowledge of creating and maintaining a sterile field, scrubbing and assisting within the surgical procedure and the use of specialized beds and positioning equipment, as well as sterilizers and specialized video equipment, Navigation, and lasers used with the department.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or EquivalentCurrently enrolled in an Accredited Surgical Technology Program Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

 

Specific Skills:

Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-upInterpersonal skills
