The Surgical Technologist Intern I works in the Sterile Processing Department. The Sterile Processing Department (SPD), also known as the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) or Central Sterilization (CS), is the area in a hospital where cleaning and sterilization of devices used in medical procedures takes place. Surgical Technologist Intern I clean, decontaminate, and package reusable surgical instrumentation following instrument manufacturer instructions for use (IFU), equipment manufacturer IFU, and department polices to ensure that instruments are safe to reuse. Customers include the operating room, hospital departments, and multiple clinics throughout the Aspirus system.
Eligibility
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
At minimum, engaged in the first semester of a Surgical Technologist program, required.Previous experience in a health-related field with emphasis on supply, processing, decontamination, and sterilization desired, but not required.Hours: Flexible, occasional status; will work with student hours.
