Ensure the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedures are conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.

Properly handle the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.

Ensures quality patient care at all times during the operative procedure and maintenance of the sterile field.

Acts as a consultant to the healthcare profession, patient or caregiver regarding patient advocacy and delivery of safe, competent, and quality perioperative care.

Minimum Education Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent

Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist training program

 

Minimum Experience

2 years surgical tech experience, preferred

Participation in continuing education programs 

 

Required Certification/Licensure 

Must have an active BLS certification
