Position Summary:

Prepare the operating room for assigned surgical procedures with proper instrumentation and sterilizationNavigate the nuances of surgical procedures and surgeons you’ll be supporting Adapt to the needs of emergency situationsProvide clean-up and turnover of operating room to prepare for next patient
Responsibilities
Assist surgical team in the scrubbing role and report any breaks in aseptic techniqueAssist with retracting of tissue and organs, and suctioning by holding the retractingPerform surgical counts with the RN according to policy and procedureAssure appropriate equipment and supplies are available for each procedureWork closely with the instrument room as service specialist/instrument liaison to assure provision of qualityAssist RN with circulator duties while under direct supervision
Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma/GED

Licensure/Certification:

Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CST/CSFA) required as of September 1, 2010 or "grandfathered" employees  or LVN
BLS Certification Required

Minimum Experience:

Two (2) years of experience
