General Role Description: As a Surgical Technician I, you will work with the surgical team to ensure that quality care is given to the patient. You will also work with team members in assisting the Surgeon by being familiar with the surgical procedure, instruments, supplies, and equipment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assumes the responsibility of a Scrub Nurse Functions as the Sterile Assistant to the Surgeon Assists in the assessment, planning, and implementation of care given to the surgical patient Demonstrates ability to use supplies, equipment, and instruments appropriately Follows strict principles of aseptic technique both in procedures and in the processing of equipment and instrumentation Demonstrates competence in assisting with surgical procedures Demonstrates knowledge of health and safety policies and procedures, regulatory agency requirements, quality improvement processes, facility, and departmental policies, procedures, and protocols Demonstrates knowledge of Universal Body Precautions Participates in the identification and implementation of improvements in the delivery of quality care Responds expediently and courteously to requests for help from patients and staff Uses judgment in seeking consultation from circulating Nurses and other unit Nursing staff Maintains composure and initiates emergency care as appropriate according to ACLS guidelines Works with team members in the selection of supplies, instrumentation, and equipment needed for patient care Works with team members in the processing of sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment and their replacement in proper areas Assists Anesthesia staff as requested Performs additional duties as assignedYou’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
Required Qualifications:
Graduation from a post-high school education program or associate degree Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (American Heart Association) Operation Room Technician (ORT) OR Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification 1+ years of experience as a surgical technician Operating room experience
Preferred Qualifications:
California Residents Only: The hourly range for this role is $16.54 to $32.55 per hour.
