Job Description
We are seeking a Certified Surgical Technician with preferred experience in Eye, ENT, and Plastic procedures. The technician will provide surgical assistance to surgical residents and attendings in the oral surgery clinic and dental ambulatory OR/procedure room. This is a full time position with full time benefits at one of the largest healthcare networks in NYC.
ResponsibilitiesEscort patients to the surgical chair and screen patients awaiting surgery.Review medical records to confirm treatment required and ensure charts are complete with notes, PHM lab results, etc.Provide four-handed assistance to clinicians at all times.Clean and disinfect all countertops, mayo stands, and equipment prior to setting up.Organize all sterile instruments, surgical trays, and equipment for each procedure in the operatory.Take radiographs as requested before, during, and after procedures.Restock cabinets and drawers and order medical/surgical supplies.Provide chair-side assistance in monitoring patient's vitals, suctioning, and passing instruments and medications.Remove all instruments and equipment at the end of the procedure and dispose of medical waste during the break-down period.Respond effectively in case of an emergency.Essential SkillsEpicBLSSurgical instrumentationPlastic surgery experienceMust have Surgical Tech license and BLS certificationMinimum of 3 years experience required, 5 years preferredExcellent written and oral communicationCustomer serviceElectronic health recordsSterilizationAseptic techniqueAdditional Skills & QualificationsSuperior customer service skills with a friendly, outgoing personality.Strong interpersonal and people skills.Embrace the role of a true caretaker.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Proficient in using all equipment as dictated by the position.Ability to concentrate on moderate details and adapt to frequent interruptions and changes.Ability to attend to tasks lasting from 10-90 minutes.Self-directed with the ability to work with or without supervision.Ability to establish a good rapport with participants and peers.Pleasant telephone manner.Work Environment
The position requires working the 11 AM to 7 PM shift with weekend and holiday availability. The work environment includes providing surgical assistance in a clinical setting with the use of various surgical instruments and equipment. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $43.00/hr.
