Surgical Technician
Job Description
As a Surgical Technician, you will assist in preparing the operating room for surgery, perform assigned support duties during operative procedures, and ensure that supplies, instrumentation, and equipment are in proper working order. You will provide and maintain a sterile work environment, monitor and maintain aseptic techniques, and assist the surgical team by sterilizing equipment. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining HIPAA reports.
Responsibilities
+ Assist in preparing the operating room for surgery.
+ Perform assigned support duties during operative procedures.
+ Check supplies, instrumentation, and equipment needs for operative procedures and ensure they are working properly.
+ Provide and maintain a sterile work environment.
+ Maintain linen, supplies, and instruments needed for the successful completion of scheduled procedures.
+ Monitor and maintain aseptic techniques.
+ Assist the surgical team by sterilizing equipment.
+ Maintain HIPAA reports.
Essential Skills
+ Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
+ Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) certification.
+ Completion of an approved program for Operating/Surgical Technician in accordance with state requirements.
+ Experience in patient care through completion of an ORT or surgical technology program.
+ Current national certification established by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
+ Completion of a program for surgical technology accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
+ Knowledge of technical skills required for the sterilization and utilization of equipment, instruments, and supplies, and the preparation of the OR.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience sterilizing equipment for orthopedic, vascular, trauma (e.g., gunshot wounds, motor vehicle accidents, neuro, vascular), oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMS), ear, nose, and throat (ENT), and ophthalmology (e.g., open globe) procedures.
Work Environment
This position is based in a Regional One Trauma Hospital. The role requires working in an environment equipped with advanced medical technology. You will work closely with a diverse surgical team to ensure successful operative procedures. The work environment emphasizes maintaining sterile conditions and adhering to strict aseptic techniques
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
