Providing care to Dayton and surrounding communities for over 90 years.   Over 20 specialties, including orthopedics, heart and vascular, surgery, and trauma services.   KH Dayton expanded their Emergency Department as well as their heart & vascular services to include an additional catheterization lab and electrophysiology lab.   Partners with Gem City Market to provide fresh fruits and vegetables every Tuesday within the hospital.    One of the largest osteopathic teaching hospitals in the United States.   371 bed facility Over the past several years, KH Dayton has received many awards, including:  Top 100 Hospital Patient Safety Excellence Award from Healthgrades in 2019. Received an “A” from the Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog, ranking among the safest hospitals in the United States.  Responsibilities & Requirements **Possible Incentives for external Surgical Technician First AssistsUp to $20,000 Sign-on Bonus based on experience and employment status (full/part-time)Relocation Bonus available (amount may vary dependent on the distance of the move)Returning employees must not have been employed by Kettering Health for the last 6 months prior to rehireThe Surgical Technician (ST) First Assist is responsible for assisting in direct care to patients undergoing surgical intervention by selecting, setting up, and passing of sterile instruments to the surgeon and assistants, under the direction of the RN and the surgeon. This position requires on-call coverage.  The Surgical Technician reports to the clinical manager. This position is for the Cardiothoracic and Cardiovascualr team.Responsibilities: The CSFA/CSA may perform specific significant surgical tasks under Professional Supervision. Some tasks include but are not limited to the following:Position and Prepping patientsOpening and closing surgical sitesDissecting tissue and removal of tissueImplanting DevicesAltering tissueProvide hemostasisSuturingApplying/removing dressings, splints and castsAdministering local and other topical agents as orderedPlace IVsOther such procedures as requested and necessaryResponsible for assisting in direct care to patients; surgical techs continually support surgeons and nurses by selecting, setting up, and passing of sterile instruments to the surgeon and assistantsThe Surgical Tech’s actions and communications should reflect Kettering Health Networks mission, vision, values, and policies in interactions with patients, families, and coworkersRequirements:Successful completion of examination for first assistant First Assistant certificationHigh school diploma or equivalent.Surgical experience preferred; with a minimum 4 years’ experience if not a graduate of an ST programExperience as a ST preferredIf not certified ST, must obtain within a year of hireCPR certifiedAbility to multitask and work in fast pace environmentAble to function independently as a surgical technicianCustomer service/communication skillsAbility to teach others due to being a teaching facility On-call is requiredApply Today!  #PM21 Preferred Qualifications
