Serving the needs of Garfield Heights and the Southeast communities of Cuyahoga County, Marymount Hospital is an acute care, faith-based hospital. As a Surgical Technician, you will assist in surgical procedures under the supervision of surgeons and registered nurses, ensuring quality patient care and sterile conditions during the operative procedure. Within this unit, you will find a well-rounded, patient-centered and passionate family of caregivers who work together to facilitate the best possible healthcare experience. A caregiver in this position works from 7:00AM – 5:30PM, with on-call requirements. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Set up the sterile table and ensure appropriate supplies, drugs and equipment are available.  Assists RN in counting all sponges, instruments, etc. at appropriate times during surgery. Assist in gowning and gloving surgical team members and draping patients. Ensure aseptic condition is maintained by the scrubbed surgical team through the procedure.  Participate in the intraoperative “timeout.”  Collect, identify and label specimens removed during surgical procedures and gives specimens to circulator for disposition.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Completion of a Surgical Technology Program accredited through the CAAHEP or ABHES OR completion of a Military Surgical Technology Program OR certification as a Surgical Technologist [acceptable certifications for this route are TS-C (through the National Center for Competency Training) or CST (through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)] Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
