Position Description

Performs various tasks and duties to provide technical assistance and support to medical/surgical staff and personnel during surgical procedures.

Position Requirements

REQUIRED

 

Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program. Surgical Technologist with less than 12 months of experience as a Surgical Technologist. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other hospital personnel, and promote collaboration among disciplines in coordinating patient care. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).

 

Note: As of February 7, 2016, employees currently in the Surgical Technologist role are considered grandfathered and are therefore not required to meet the educational requirements of this job. 

 

PREFERRED

 

Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Technologist in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
