Surgical Technologist
GiaCare Inc. is accepting applications for experienced, civilian Surgical Technologists to work at Ft. Sam Houston in support of the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC), in San Antonio, Texas.

Qualifications:

Certificate: Graduate from Surgical Technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or completion of a formal training program provided by any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) for surgical technicians, surgical technologists or operating room technicians.Life Support Certification:  Shall have current Basic Life Support (BLS) by way of an American Heart Association by an approved training facility.Experience: One (1) year of experience as a Surgical Technician or Operating Room Technician, after graduation. Board Certification:  Surgical Technologist (CST) from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or certified as a Tech-in-Surgery (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or possess a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) certification as a surgical technician and/or operating room technician.Licensure/Registration:  Certificate


Duties:

Serves as a Surgical Technician with a strong enfaces in Otolaryngology Technician involving diagnostic and treatment procedures in several areas of a Medical Treatment Facility, including the Otolaryngology (ENT) Clinic, ward and clinic operating room.Independently performs a variety of standardized, routine procedures and services for patients whose conditions can vary widely.Assists the physician in minor operating room.Performs preliminary screening/history and documents appropriate information prior to patient seeing physician.Performs cerumen removal utilizing appropriate techniques.Applies and removes bandages, simple dressings and hot and cold packs.Removes sutures, nasal splints, staples and packing.Cleans and dresses wounds as appropriate.


Schedule:

Monday thru Friday8-hour shifts630AM to 530PM (Hours may vary)Primary duty will be at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) but maybe scheduled also at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center (WHASC) depending on the needs of the Otolaryngology Department at Wilford Hall.
