Requirements

Graduate from Surgical Technology school preferredHigh school diploma or GED combined with direct patient experienceSurgical Technologist through the NBSTSA OR NCCT a plus but not requiredCurrent BLS from the AHA or ARCAbility to work off shifts and pm shifts, take night and weekend call shifts.Able to cover all specialties daily and on-call.

Responsible for the delivery of patient care by applying skills and techniques common to the practice of Operating Room Technician, accepting accountability for the technical execution of scrubbing responsibilities for those patients within the GI Lab and OR. 

The Operating Room Technician functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Reports to the Clinical Coordinator and/or Surgical Services Director.

Concise management of preparation of each surgical caseMaintaining the sterile environment of the operating room until the patient is brought to the recovery roomSterilizing the equipment and operating roomHelping with preparing the patient for surgery Gathering, counting, and arranging the equipment and surgical tools needed during the surgeryPassing surgical tools to the surgeon and the surgeon’s assistantAssisting in retracting tissues from the surgical patientCounting all of the tools and instruments used during the surgeryApplying dressings to surgical sitesDisposing of needles and gauze
