Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Required:

Has successfully completed a nationally or regionally accredited educational program for surgical technologists and holds and maintains surgical technologist certification is required.

Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation):

Preferred:

One year experience as a Surgical Technician or related area.

License, Registry or Certification:

Required:

Current Surgical Technology Certification or obtained within 1 year of hire. BLS required

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

Required:

Must pass annual clinical competency based program and mandated in-service education. Unit specific skills may include but not limited to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. They will demonstrate expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique. Skills will be determined by a challenge exam and/or skill performance or by completion of a Staff Development course.
