8 hr day shifts (generally 0700-1530) Mon-Fri.

JOB SUMMARY
The Surgical Technologist-CVOR-Acute is a skilled member of the allied healthcare team who provides clinical support and/or operating room assistance under the supervision of a licensed Cardiovascular Surgeon. The Surgical Technologist-CVOR works with a wide variety of healthcare professionals to deliver direct patient care before, during, and after cardiovascular procedures or surgery. The Surgical Technologist-CVOR will function in the scrub role and will monitor and maintain aseptic technique, equipment, supplies and instruments. Provides a safe, efficient environment for the surgical patient and staff by working in accordance with Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) standards of practice and by adhering to MCHS policies/procedures, universal precautions, and sterile technique

JOB QUALIFICATIONS ​

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Graduate of a surgical technologist program or military equivalent.

Preferred/Optional: Surgical technologist advanced degree.

EXPERIENCE 

Minimum Required: Two years of recent experience as a surgical technologist.  Two years of clinical experience in an operating room, surgical environment or other related healthcare experience will be considered in lieu of the surgical technologist experience.

Preferred/Optional:

Two years’ CVOR experience- Competent in functioning independently in the scrub role in multiple complex cardiovascular procedures and in life saving situations.Successfully completed certification exam.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required:

BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHS) required within three months of hire.Must meet criteria for hospital and ambulatory surgery staff privileges (where applicable).May require additional specialty or department-specific certifications (where applicable).

Preferred/Optional:

BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHS) at time of hire.Surgical Technologist certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. Those without the certification are encouraged to complete continuing education credits equal to the requirements to maintain certification.
