We are looking for a dedicated Surgical Technologist PRN like you to be a part of our team. **Job Summary and Qualifications** + Consistently deliver the best in customer service and patient care. As a team member, demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with patients, families, visitors and other employees + Champion PCMC’s mission, vision and values; comply with the policies and procedures, ethical standards and code of conduct set forth by the company + Obtains appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for procedure. + Sets up the Operating Room Suite with the correct equipment, position aids, and all necessary safety items. + Creates a sterile environment while opening sterile supplies + Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure. + Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed. + Assist with surgical procedures including such activities as growing and gloving surgeon and assistants, assisting with draping the sterile field, passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon during the procedure, holding retractors or instruments applying clamps cutting suture material as directed by the surgeon, connecting drains to suction apparatus and anticipating additions supplies needed during the procedure. + Keeps accurate records throughout the procedure. + Ensures correct labeling and handling of surgical specimens and medicine. + Secures dressings after incision closure. + Helps transport patient to recovery room. + Prepares instruments for cleaning and reprocessing. + Assists in cleaning of room and preparing for next patient. + Performs special assignments as outlined and defined by Director; ordering supplies, inventory functions, equipment, instrument care and maintenance. + Reports supply and equipment needs to the manager and distributes items to appropriate area (case cart, sterile supply, etc). + Assists in the orientation of new personnel to the unit as instructed by the manager + Responsible for receiving, sorting, cleaning and sterilizing supplies and equipment + Sorts, assembles, and inspect instrument trays reporting any defects, damage, or function + Function as a first assistant during operative and other invasive procedures by + Providing exposure through correct use of instruments, retractors, suction, and sponging techniques as directed by the surgeon; + Handling and dissecting tissues as directed by the surgeon; + Clamping blood vessels, coagulating bleeding points, and ligating vessels as directed by the surgeon; + Placing drains as directed by the surgeon; and + Suturing muscle, fascia, subcutaneous, and skin as directed by the surgeon. **What qualifications you will need:** **Experience** : + One or more years’ experience as an OR Surgical Technologist preferred. + Membership in CST association preferred. + Current CPR certification as a Basic Rescuer is a must + Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date **Registration:** + CST certification preferred, to perform as a Surgical First Assistant must have a Certification as a CSFA – Certified Surgical First Assistant HCA Florida Putnam Hospital is a 99-bed acute care facility serving North Central Florida.
