Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Survey Crew Chief with the ability to operate a total station instrument, data collector, GPS rover, and level. The ideal candidate will be capable of completing basic field calculations, cutting and clearing survey lines using hand tools, maintaining a clean work vehicle, and following basic safety procedures. You should be able to take directions from Project Managers, efficiently coordinate work, and lead a survey crew.

ResponsibilitiesOperate total station instrument and data collector.Operate a GPS rover.Operate a level and read a level rod.Complete basic field calculations.Cut and clear survey lines using hand tools.Maintain a clean work vehicle.Follow basic safety procedures.Take directions from Project Managers and efficiently coordinate work.Lead and supervise one or more individuals on a survey crew.Essential SkillsMinimum of 3 years of experience in land surveying, preparing survey documents, and running crews.Experience with boundary, topographic, wetland surveys, ALTA, construction staking, etc.Proficiency in creating plats, drawings, as-built, tree and topographic surveys, and exhibits using AutoCAD.Experience working with Trimble survey equipment.Clear communication skills with field crews, engineers, and project managers.Proficiency in using total station, GPS, and AutoCAD.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School diploma or G.E.D. required.Formal training in a surveying-related field is a plus.Strong work ethic and self-motivated.Ability to work in a timely and accurate manner.High individual moral and ethical character.Clean driving record.Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) as required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act.Work Environment

The successful candidate will collect field survey data for various types of surveys including boundary, topographic, ALTA, wetland, and tree locations, as well as construction layout. Proper PPE material will be provided while working onsite. You will need to wear clothing that can get dirty or torn. The role involves walking long distances in woods, wetlands, and marsh areas, and you will encounter bees, hornets, snakes, and other outside elements and insects. The standard work schedule is Monday to Friday, with some Saturdays involved, from 6 am to 3 pm, totaling 40-50 hours per week. You will meet at the office and report to the Survey Manager, who will assign crews. You will lead a team of surveyors in 1-2 man crews. This position is based in the Savannah area. A company truck will be provided while onsite, but it cannot be taken home.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00
