Job Title: Survey Crew Chief Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Survey Crew Chief to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience in land surveying, with the ability to operate various surveying instruments and manage field crews efficiently. Responsibilities + Operate a total station instrument and data collector. + Operate a GPS rover. + Operate a level and read a level rod. + Complete basic field calculations. + Cut and clear survey lines using hand tools. + Maintain a clean work vehicle. + Follow basic safety procedures. + Take directions from Project Managers and coordinate work efficiently. + Lead and supervise one or more individuals on a survey crew. Essential Skills + Minimum of 3 years of experience in land surveying, preparing survey documents, and running crews. + Experience with boundary, topographic surveys, wetland surveys, ALTA, construction staking, etc. + Ability to create plats, drawings, as-built, tree and topographic surveys, and exhibits using AutoCAD. + Proficiency in using Trimble survey equipment. + Clear communication skills with field crews, engineers, and project managers. + Strong work ethic and self-motivation. + Ability to work in a timely and accurate manner. + High individual moral and ethical character. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High School diploma or G.E.D. required. + Formal training in a surveying-related field is a plus. + Clean driving record. + Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®). Work Environment The successful candidate will collect field survey data for various types of surveys including boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, wetland and tree locations, construction layout, and similar fieldwork. Employees will receive proper PPE while working onsite and should wear clothing suitable for outdoor work. The role involves walking long distances in woods, wetlands, and marsh areas, and exposure to bees, hornets, snakes, and other outdoor elements. The work schedule is Monday to Friday with some Saturdays, from 6 am to 3 pm, totaling 40-50 hours per week. The candidate will meet at the office and report to the Survey Manager, leading a team of 1-2 surveyors. The position is based in the Savannah area. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
