Survey Crew Chief - Indianapolis, IN
We are hiring as skilled Survey Crew Chief to join a growing Survey Department in Indianapolis, IN! These positions are open due to business growth – This team has a strong backlog of work and does not want to overwork their current Survey Department to get it all done. This role is based within a 60-minute commute of the Indianapolis office, so candidates can expect to be home every night (few exceptions may apply).
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience to stay local to Central Indiana while supporting a consistent workload. Any overtime hours worked to support projects will be paid at time-and-a-half, and candidates will receive a Company Vehicle (take-home truck), Gas Card, Cell Phone, and Laptop. This team offers a wide range of projects for Crew Chiefs, including Industrial, Commercial, Institutional, Educational, and Multi-Family. This allows for employees to continuously learn, while maintaining steady workload not tied to the Residential market.
Job Description:
This Survey Team focuses on Construction Layouts, As-Built Surveys, Topographic Surveys, Boundary Surveys, and eventually ALTA Surveys.Surveyors utilize top-tier Trimble equipment, including GPS base and rover units, VRS networks, Robotic total stations, Digital level, TSC7 data collectors, and TBC processing software.Projects range across Commercial, Industrial, and Institutional Sectors, including collaborations with large clients such as IU Health and major pharmaceutical companies.Successful candidates will operate either solo or in two-person teams.Job Requirements:
EITHER 2+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief OR 3+ years as an Instrument OperatorExperience with Construction Layout and Boundary, Topographic, or ALTA SurveysWilling to submit to a Drug Test, Background Check, and Motor Vehicle Record CheckSchedule:
The crew chiefs typically get started around 7:30AM. In the summer months, they may start earlier. They work until the project is done for the day. The person starts from home and does not need to come into the office every day.The current Crew Chiefs are averaging around 45-50 hours per week. Max is around 55 hours in the summer but does not happen on a weekly basis. If a person wants to work a lot of overtime, that can be offered and accommodated as requested. Similarly, if you don’t want to work too much overtime, that can also be accommodated.There is a Saturday rotation in which each person will work one Saturday per month. The schedule is posted quarterly so that people have time to switch shifts/days if needed.Miscellaneous:
This team hosts Saturday trainings once per month where Crew Chiefs will be paid to come learn different functions of the Surveying skillset and industry. Target pay is between $27-47/hour, depending on specific experience.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00
