Job Title: Survey Party Chief

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Survey Party Chief to lead our survey teams in various projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing daily survey activities, running survey controls, and utilizing advanced technologies such as GPS, laser and LiDAR scanning. A passion for the latest technology, including drone surveying, is highly desirable. This role requires a well-rounded individual who takes ownership of projects, needs minimal supervision, and can effectively train junior crew members.

ResponsibilitiesMastery of survey equipment use and calibration, including total stations, data collection devices, GPS equipment, and digital/automatic levels.Read and interpret site, boundary, highway, and utility plans, maps, and surveys, including profile and cross-sections, horizontal and vertical curves, and contours.Perform survey calculations, including level note reductions and coordinate geometry.Supervise daily survey crew activities.Represent and communicate on behalf of the company with clients, subcontractors, and third parties during field activities.Facilitate Daily Tailgate Safety Meetings and perform Daily Job Hazard Analysis with crew members.Direct safety set-up and flagging operations for proper maintenance of traffic signage.Train other crew members.Maintain, clean, and operate vehicles, equipment, tools, and supplies effectively.Assist with daily vehicle pre-checks and completion of truck sheets.Complete monthly survey equipment inventory for Supervisor reorder.Load and unload survey equipment and supplies.Set up survey tripods to provide backsite and foresight operations.Perform line cutting.Support Subsurface Utility Engineering services as required.Essential Skills5-7 years of surveying experience, including GDOT projects.Experience with Trimble equipment and software.Proficiency in ALTA, boundary, topo, tree, and utility surveying.Experience with terrestrial and aerial LiDAR.Valid Drone Pilot License.High School Diploma or GED.Valid driver’s license and good driving record.Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, including up to 2-week continuous stays.Ability to pass a pre-employment physical (U.S. only).Ability to stand and walk on various terrains for extended periods.Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical activities related to surveying equipment.Strong oral and written communication skills.Attention to detail.Additional Skills & Qualifications4+ years leading crews in the field.Experience with GDOT database surveying, bridge surveying, and construction staking.Proficiency in Carlson, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and boundary survey software.Experience with topographic surveys and route surveys.Experience using Drones (plus but not required)Work Environment

Our work environment includes the use of advanced technologies such as GPS, laser and LiDAR scanning, MCGPR, and UAS (drones). The team is composed of field technicians, surveyors, and engineers who capture quality data to help visualize, plan, and design projects. The role involves outdoor work in all climates, and the ability to drive a company vehicle, which can be taken home each night. The majority of work is local to Georgia, with occasional travel around the Southeast. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
