Kleinfelder has an exciting opportunity for a Survey Crew Manager!  As a Survey Crew Manager at Kleinfelder you would have the opportunity to be part of one the largest and fastest growing land development firms in the country. You will have a chance to work with a team of survey professionals with over 75 years experience. Our survey department works together as team to ensure everyone is prepared for every project. This gives you the opportunity to not only succeed but to excel at your job giving you the opportunity grow and move up in Kleinfelder. We work on a variety of projects from boundary to topography, construction stakeout, rail stakeout, building columns and road mapping, there is nothing we don't do. This is an exciting opportunity to see different parts of Virginia and different parts of the country. We travel quite a bit so if you are feeling adventures Kleinfelder will be perfect for you. Our projects vary in location, one week you may be in the back country of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the next it could be the Capital Washington D.C. or the City of Richmond. Responsibilities

Records Keeping: maintain records and data pertaining to the work being performed, the working conditions, the crew personnel, and materials for the project.Scheduling: Able to schedule work activities to perform the task on time and within budget.Coordination: Able to coordinate with team personnel to accomplish the tasks each crew member is responsible for.Project management: Able to manage the survey tasks and coordinate with other construction individuals and departments to safely and correctly perform the survey tasks needed for each project.Operate survey equipment: Have a good knowledge of the equipment used by survey personnel including, but not limited to robotic equipment, total stations, GPS equipment, levels, measuring chains and tapes, data collectors and some software.Crew mentorship: Able to teach and mentor instrument and chain operators on each crew. a crew leader should be able to pass on the knowledge and safety habits clearly and concisely that the individual has gained through their experiences.

 

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil and transportation related surveying is preferred.A high school diploma, or equivalent, is requiredAbility to work effectively with other technical professionalsAbility to write legibly and convey technical information as well as the ability to effectively present information, communicate, and respond to questions from groups of co-workers, clients, and the publicValid driver's license with demonstrated safe driving practicesThe ability to obtain background clearances to permit working on-site for certain clients is requiredPhysical Requirements:Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignmentsAbility to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rugged, rural or urban surroundingsAbility to lift 50 pounds and walk long distancesRequired to stand for long periods of time and/or walk long distancesMust be able to work overtime as neededThe ability to work outside, in all types of weather, is a requirement

Leadership, communication, problem-solving, organization, safety and math abilities are all qualities of a good crew leader.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil and transportation related surveying is preferred.
