Job Title: Survey Manager
Job Description

As a Survey Manager, you will contribute significantly to the success of our Survey and Right of Way team by managing clients, projects, and leading the central Ohio survey group. You'll play a key role in staying up to date with market trends and leaders. Your entrepreneurial spirit will directly influence the growth and direction of the group. This role will focus mainly on transportation (ODOT) work, but can also include ROW, site layout, ALTA, topo, and more. This position is heavily business development-focused and includes responsibilities such as staff mentorship and technical quality control review on survey work.

ResponsibilitiesEngage with internal and external clients for survey-related projects, such as ODOT, City of Columbus, Developers, Architects, and Civil Designers.Ensure adherence to quality control and quality assurance procedures as necessary.Prepare scope and fee proposals for projects.Understand required survey and R/W scope and recommend change orders when needed.Lead a team of survey professionals and technicians to effectively collect and process survey data.Effectively communicate information to staff and the leadership team.Provide technical expertise, problem-solving, and training to develop staff.Calculate parcel and lot line locations and/or easement lines using taxation and title information.Review easement and right-of-way descriptions and documents, with drawings if required as specified by the client.Review lot splits and combinations based on local requirements.Perform research of public land survey records.Understand state and local regulations regarding surveying standards and practices.Occasionally perform survey field activities such as leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, profile, and cross-section surveys.Essential SkillsSurveyingLand surveyingRoad design surveyODOT projectsRight of wayBusiness developmentTransportation surveyProfessional Surveyor (PS) LicenseProficiency in Civil 3DAdditional Skills & QualificationsOhio Professional Surveyor license requiredPrior experience with transportation survey and/or ODOT projects required10+ years of surveying experience preferredStrong focus on business developmentAbility to oversee staff and provide technical guidanceWork Environment

The position offers a hybrid work environment with 1-2 days per week in the office. There is a strong focus on employee well-being, local work allowing you to see your work come to life in the community, and competitive pay and benefits. The role offers flexibility, allowing candidates to opt-out of CAD or field work if preferred. There is minimal fieldwork or travel unless desired. Part-time hours are considered, making this role suitable for someone close to retirement.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00
