POSITION SUMMARY:
This role will oversee the survey processes during the phases of engineering, planning, project kick-off, construction, and closeout. The Survey Manager will support projects in various phases of engineering or construction; this individual will ensure the process for survey is followed by the Survey Analysts. This individual must have the ability to build relationships with project supervision, construction, and engineering teams who all play a critical role in providing inputs to our survey process. This role will be highly communicative in the delivery of deliverables required for construction. They will be charged with coordinating support from the Operations Survey Lead and Principal, Survey & Technology to continuously improve and update our survey process. This individual has management oversight over a team of Survey Analysts as well as coaching & mentorship responsibilities.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety: Find and encourage the positive behaviors through their interactions. Endorse and support: “No business objective is so important that it will be pursued at the sacrifice of safety.” Assess project complexity and assign appropriate Survey Analyst resource contingent on their experience to ensure projects are adequately staffed and supported. Serve as a resource to internal engineering and estimating teams to assist the project design process. In concert with the Engineering Manager of EOR Services, ensure the survey analyst team is provided with all required information needed to perform their roles & responsibilities. Enforce the survey portion of PRE’s scope with our client(s) and EOR’s. Support the Operations Survey Lead and Principal, Survey & Technology in the development of Survey specifications for PRE. Responsible for ensuring the survey analyst team receives training to perform surface-to-surface comparisons, create VCL files from CSV pile elevations, and other tasks as defined in the survey process or as required. Ensure that projects are supported with accurate survey reference and control points ahead of mobilization through the Operations Survey Lead. Ensure the survey verification/validation Scope of Work (SOW) is properly followed and executed by the Operations Survey Lead and supporting vendors/subcontractors. Help develop survey work instructions for use by survey analysts and surveyors in the field to ensure their scope is clear and best practices are utilized. Support project trouble shooting as required. Serve as a resource to the project teams and 3rd party engineering/surveying companies when issues arise. Other duties as directed by supervisor.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A four-year Bachelor’s degree in a related subject or equivalent combinations of training and/or related experience. 8-10 years in construction and/or survey industry. Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) Licensure preferred. Candidate needs to have the ability to understand, interpret, and convert the civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical construction prints into a 3D environment. Field work experience of using survey techniques and operating aerial photographic equipment. A working knowledge of GIS, LIDAR, GPS and other technologies is required. Draw inferences from models to help site teams utilize and effectively build plantsPREFERRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of CAD programs (Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD, Civil3D, etc.) Strong communication skills to convey concerns, analytical data, and job constraints. Strong organizational and planning skills. Ability to read and understand prints and contract documents. The ideal candidate will have worked previously in an aerial surveying role or possess related surveying land experience.
