Survey Methodologist

The Survey and Qualitative Methods Core (SQMC) in the Division of Population Sciences at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) seeks a full-time Research Scientist (PhD) to serve as the Survey Methodologist for the Core. The Survey Methodologist must have expertise in survey design, instrument development, and psychometrics with experience applying advanced psychometric methods to instrument development, in particular latent measures such as clinical outcomes assessments (e.g. patient reported outcomes, clinician-reported outcomes).
In conjunction with the members of the SQMC, this individual will collaborate with the faculty and staff of DFCI and the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center as a methodological consultant/collaborator on observational, behavioral, implementation science and clinical outcomes studies and grants. This individual will serve on the SQMC of the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center Support grant (P30) and the Research Design and Analysis Core (RDAC) of the University of Massachusetts Boston-Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center Comprehensive Partnership for Cancer Disparities Research grant (U54). Working in close collaboration with the SQMC Faculty Director and SQMC Senior Qualitative Research Scientist, this position will provide scientific leadership around quantitative methodologies for the SQMC.
This position is onsite at the DFCI campus in Boston, MA, with opportunity to work remotely 1-2 days per week.

Working in close collaboration with the SQMC Faculty Director and SQMC Senior Qualitative Research Scientist, this position will provide scientific leadership around quantitative methodologies for the SQMC.
This position is expected to consult and collaborate with investigators for development of study design and contribute to development of grant applications; interact with clinical investigators and research staff on measurement issues including: sample development, survey/questionnaire design, psychometric assessment of new or existing instruments, and application of item response theory and classical test theory. This individual should have advanced skills in quantitative analyses and will be expected to coordinate teaching seminars on methodological topics to faculty and trainees.
This position supervises a Data Analyst.
**Required:**
+ PhD in statistics, quantitative psychology, educational measurement, psychometry, or closely related field, with expertise in survey design and psychometrics
+ 2 or more years of experience as an independent investigator or collaborator conducting research involving psychometric analysis (e.g. item response theory, classical test theory), sampling, questionnaire design, implementation and analysis
+ Advanced statistical analysis expertise
+ Experience writing code for data manipulation and statistical analysis using one or more software packages, such as SAS, Stata, R
+ Strong record of collaborative research
+ Excellent written & oral communication skills
+ Experience in survey methods
**Preferred:**
+ Experience in Program Evaluation
+ Experience in Implementation Science.
+ Experience in Mixed Methods Research.
+ Experience working as a consultant or mentor.
+ The successful candidate will also have a strong record of peer-reviewed publications. Academic appointment will be at DFCI as a Research Scientist. Salary will be commensurate with skills and experience.
