Survey Project Assistant

We are currently looking for a Survey Project Assistant to join our Survey group on a full-time basis. This opportunity will be in person based out of our Grand Rapids, MI office. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to engage in both office and field work. They should be comfortable handling administrative tasks as well as participating in hands-on field assignments such assisting with construction staking and drone and safety observation. This dual role will contribute to the overall efficiency and success of the Survey group.     At F&V, our goal is to recruit and retain great people and in turn provide a great employee experience. Responsibilities: * Serve as the primary point of contact for field staff to assist with survey project documentation and adherence to standards. * General office and administrative duties (travel arrangements, expense reporting, scanning, meeting set-up, committee assistance, etc.). * Assist with field work by performing tasks such as field topographies, construction staking, structure reports, boundary surveys, and inspections. * Ensure survey vehicles are properly equipped.   * Assist with data calculations, quality control descriptions with the Project Manager, and quality control of drawings for typos. * Perform basic CAD drafting and data entry for GIS. * Develop and improve processes related to survey project management. * Manage training database, monitor certification expiration dates, and schedule and coordinate certification renewals for department staff. * Utilize Microsoft Office and other software programs to prepare spreadsheets, perform word processing, maintain databases, and manage project documentation. * Assist with the preparation of PSA and proposal letters. * Answer and respond to telephone and email inquiries regarding survey services and gather information for surveying estimates.  Qualifications * Minimum of 3-5 years of administrative experience required. * Self-motivated team player. * Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while meeting deadlines. * Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. * Detail oriented with strong administration, organization, project, and time management skills. * Ability and willingness to be in the field and perform survey work as needed.  * Must have a valid Michigan driver's license.
