Full time at-will position, includes excellent full-family benefit package, PERS/OPSRP retirement and availability of deferred compensation retirement savings. Job Summary: This position performs a variety of survey support tasks in the office and the field to provide technical assistance to professional surveyors, developers, contractors, the public, and other county departments. Essential Functions: This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job. Survey Technician 2: Research and establish survey corners; coordinate access with property owners; research survey records and evaluate aerial photographs; locate and document corners; prepare survey data for computer submittal. Set horizontal and vertical control monuments; establish plane coordinates and elevations. Review and analyze surveys, plats and reports for compliance to department standards, state regulations and county ordinances. Field check subdivision plats; prepare notes for office analysis. Prepare maps and legal descriptions; provide graphic and narrative analyses for maps and other documents. Oversee and maintain department survey recordkeeping systems; establish new systems; file surveys. Research survey records for county departments, land surveyors, and the public in providing, exchanging and clarifying information. Maintain survey equipment and supplies inventory. Provide lead guidance to lower level technicians as required. Survey Technician 3:Install, test, adapt, operate, and maintain computer hardware, software and peripherals; maintain backups of software and data; develop specialized programs for office and field applications; train and support survey office staff in computer operation, technical research and report preparation. Prepare survey data for computer input and perform survey computations; liaison with other departments and agencies regarding the survey database; review and maintain survey control data and monument recovery information, including indexing, filing and distribution. Research and establish survey corners; coordinate access with property owners; research records and evaluate aerial photographs; locate and document corners. POSITION REQUIREMENTS SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job. Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities required, will be considered. however, the following is preferred: For Survey Technician 2 ($21.90 - $28.89 Hourly): Associate's degree in land surveying or related field OR two years land surveying experience, technical engineering experience. For Survey Technician 3 ($24.59 - $32.48 Hourly): Associate's degree in land surveying or related field and one year survey and/or computer operations experience OR two years land surveying experience, technical engineering experience and one year computer operations coursework, training or experience.
