Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will NOT be accepted through this flyer. There may or may not be actual vacancies filled from this flyer. Responsibilities Ensures that all collected data meets quality requirements before turn-in. Responsible for making sure all project information is set up prior to field work. Adapts to changing conditions and goals, ability to adapt as the requirements on any given day can be subject to changes. Collects hydrographic data with field surveys using state of the art equipment and gear utilizing hydrographic and Global Positioning System (GPS) knowledge. Leads a crew in the field for work with minimal supervision often in remote locations. In charge of a vessels and all associated crews for the period of work. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. GS-09 Specialized Experience: One-year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Working in land/hydrographic surveying, drafting, field data collection and principals of hydrographic surveying and acoustic based survey methods; and 2) Experience leading field crews in survey work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: Two full years of graduate level education or a master's degree in surveying, engineering, construction, industrial technology, or related field of study. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position if the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-10 Specialized Experience: One-year specialized experience which includes: 1) Working in land/hydrographic surveying, drafting, field data collection and principals of hydrographic surveying and acoustic based survey methods; 2) Experience leading field crews in survey work with minimal supervision; and 3) Setting up projects from start to finish with little input from supervisor or higher graded personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
