Survey Technician
Job Title: Layout TechnicianJob Description We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Layout Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for conducting site surveys, laying out for site excavation, grading, and utility work. The ideal candidate will be proficient with modern surveying equipment and software, have excellent mathematical skills, and demonstrate high attention to detail. Additionally, you should have an understanding of site work, grading, and utilities. Responsibilities + Proper understanding of requirements for field stakeout. + Conduct stakeout for proper installation of utilities, such as storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water systems. + Conduct stakeout for site grading, paving, curbing, and concrete. + Operate and maintain surveying instruments such as total stations, data collectors, and GPS equipment. + Record all surveying activities in field notebooks or digital devices. + Prepare data from plans and CAD files by generating points to be staked out in the field. + Collaborate with Engineers, construction personnel, and planners. + Proper understanding of ADA standards, and grading regulations. + Stay up to date with new surveying technology and industry developments. Essential Skills + Proven work experience with layout and surveying. + Knowledge of surveying technology and instruments. + Knowledge and proficiency with reading and understanding civil and structural plans. + Knowledge of site work, grading, and drainage. + Proper understanding of coordinate systems and elevations. + Excellent mathematical skills. + Proficiency in AutoCAD and GIS systems. + Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. + Ability to self-manage with proper planning and time management skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Previous experience with calibration and setup of GPS construction equipment (excavators and dozers) is a plus. Work Environment You will travel to job sites daily with the current Surveyors. The workday starts at 7 am in the office and ends between 3:30 pm to 5 pm. The dress code is casual, and you will be required to work overtime as needed. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
