Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Agricultural Cargo Inspector to oversee the inspection, testing, and sampling of agricultural commodities. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with industry standards, maintain safety protocols, and report findings accurately. This role reports to the Agri Team Leader and Agri Operations Manager and plays a critical part in maintaining the quality and integrity of agricultural cargo shipments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety and Environmental Compliance:
Maintain a clean and organized work environment to minimize accident risks. Prioritize personal and team safety by completing 2-Minute Safety Checks and participating in safety activities. Immediately report any safety concerns or workplace abnormalities to the Team Leader and Operations Manager for corrective action. Ensure compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (QHSSE) standards before initiating tasks.2. Operational Responsibilities:
Supervise liquid bulk cargo loading and discharging in compliance with FOSFA regulations, including tank inspection, volume/weight determination, and sampling. Conduct tank gauging/ullaging to calculate volume/weight of liquid bulk cargo. Inspect ISO and flexi tanks before and during loading/discharging per FOSFA standards. Oversee tallying of bagged cargo during loading and discharging, ensuring accurate documentation. Perform barge/LCT displacement surveys to determine cargo volume for grains and molasses. Conduct draft surveys for grain and molasses cargo to assess displacement calculations. Inspect breakbulk agricultural products in containers (LCL/FCL) by supervising stripping/stuffing, damage assessment, and cargo condition surveys. Execute grain sampling as per GAFTA standards. Sample liquid and solid bulk cargo as per FOSFA requirements. Perform cargo condition and damage surveys for containerized, breakbulk, and bulk shipments. Conduct physical testing of rice (bagged cargo), including inspection, sampling, and testing. Liquidate operational expenses related to authorized inspection tasks.3. Compliance and Management Responsibilities:
Adhere to the company’s Code of Ethics and operational policies. Ensure all inspections align with industry regulations and company standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Previous experience in agricultural inspection or a related field is preferred. Knowledge of agricultural practices, regulations, and quality control standards. Strong attention to detail and observational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and make well-informed decisions. Familiarity with data recording and reporting tools/software.
