Job Description:
At Mars, we believe the world we want tomorrow starts with how we do business today. We are a global leader in food, pet care, and snacking products with iconic brands like M&M’s, Pedigree, and Ben’s Original, among others. Committed to driving positive change, we strive to ensure that human rights, environmental sustainability, and ethical business practices are embedded in everything we do.
Increasing focus by governments and agencies around the world on sustainability topics is leading to complexity in how to fully anticipate, understand and respond to legislative changes that impact our own operations and those of all suppliers that we engage with.
As part of our commitment to delivering against our Sustainable in a Generation Plan and ensuring we meet or exceed all legislative requirements across all social and environmental impacts throughout our operations and supply chains, we are looking for a dynamic, experienced, and highly motivated Sustainability Compliance Director to lead our efforts across Mars Incorporated.
What are we looking for?
Bachelor's degree in one of business administration, law, human rights, international relations, sustainability, supply chain management, or a related field
7-10 + years of experience in one or more relevant areas - sustainability, governance, program management, procurement, supply chain, within a corporate environment
Ideally experience in building and leading global compliance organizations in multi-national companies
Ideally experience driving change in a highly decentralized organization
Strong knowledge of business & sustainability issues & trends, including regulatory landscape, fundamental supply chain concepts and supplier ecosystems
Ability to influence and drive others to collective success, at all levels, without direct authority
Highly effective collaborator and networker - able to build and manage relationships internally and externally
Outstanding communication skills with ability to represent key concepts to a wide range of audiences in a manner relevant to them
Proven ability to work across multiple business functions within a corporate environment desired
What will be your key responsibilities?
Provide overall program management of the sustainability compliance program, including identifying and escalating gaps in action or resources across the organization to ensure progress and adherence.
Establish a governance framework that ensures we meet all our sustainability regulatory compliance obligations.
Focus initially on ensuring we meet the CSDDD/EUDR regulations in a timely and efficient manner and using these as a foundation to learn and develop the program with the potential for a broader focus across more of the full Sustainability landscape.
Identify the necessary initiatives and resources needed to embed and automate our capability to meet current and future legislation in the most efficient manner.
Effectively advocate for and communicate sustainability regulatory compliance objectives with various key stakeholders (internally and externally)
What can you expect from Mars?
Work with diverse and talented Associates, all guided by the Five Principles.
Join a purpose driven company, where we’re striving to build the world we want tomorrow, today.
Best-in-class learning and development support from day one, including access to our in-house Mars University.
An industry competitive salary and benefits package, including company bonus.
