Job DescriptionThis is an exciting opportunity to join AECOM’s B+P Sustainable Design Team. The team is growing to deliver on our commitment to tackle the climate emergency and assist in the design process of built environment projects from a sustainability perspective.
We are looking for a Sustainable Architecture Design Specialist to champion the integration of sustainable solutions across all building projects.
As a Sustainability Consultant, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team based in Madrid and comprised of architects, engineers, interior designers and urban planners working on a range of international projects.
Your mission
Responsibilities include:
Working with the design teams to integrate strategies focused on net zero carbon, circular materiality, health and well-being and positive social impact, with a passive design and low carbon approach.Assessing the environmental performance of buildings and master-plans through energy modelling, carbon footprint, daylight studies, thermal comfort assessments and other relevant studies to provide design feedback and assess the compliance with different rating systems requirements (i.e. LEED, WELL, BREEAM, etc).Producing rigorous, data driven reports to explain and justify analysis results and recommendations, as well as project deliverables as required.Communicating complex technical concepts and solutions to clients and design teams in a clear straightforward way.Working in a multi-disciplinary environment, engaging with different disciplines in-house and externally.Managing own workload to meet project deadlines.Conducting research and training into existing and emerging sustainable policy, trends and technologies.Engaging with the wider industry and professional bodies.Contributing and assisting as required to the different projects.Qualifications
BSc in Architecture, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or similar will be essential.
An MSc on Sustainability or Environmental Design is desirable. In case you don't have this specific MSc, it will be equivalent to previous working experience in a similar role.

Experience with low carbon systems, passive design solutions and renewable energy.A willingness to learn and share knowledge.Excellent team player.Good attention to detail, meticulous and analytical skills.Ability and confidence to communicate and present complex technical information in an engaging non-technical manner.High initiative and organizing skills.Highly valued:
An in depth-knowledge of environmental simulation software is highly desirable (IES VE, Energy+, Ladybug Tools, OneClick LCA, etc). An appreciation of coding or a modern programming language would be an advantage. Some knowledge of BIM is appreciated.Familiar with international rating systems (LEED, BREEAM, WELL, Passivhaus, etc). Professional accreditation in one or more of those rating systems is appreciated.Understanding of corporate ESG drivers and reporting frameworks is desirable.Additional InformationAbout AECOM
