Bowhead is seeking a Sustainment Field Engineer to be responsible for previously fielded ECP classrooms with installed technology to ensure full functionality and operability at various government facilities for our Army customer. You will additionally be responsible for on-site coordination with the client’s representative. You may be tasked with assuming a Sustainment Lead Installation team member role, situationally dependent, and providing training to more junior installation and sustainment team members.
The Sustainment Field Engineer will assess functionality, repairability, and warrant status of equipment currently installed. The Installation Field Engineer will have strong knowledge of classroom functions and equipment requirements.
• Identify/troubleshoot and resolve classroom IT/AV equipment issues.
• Monitoring sustainment tickets across ECP classrooms to ensure timely completion IAW task order terms and conditions.
• Perform on-site user level maintenance/parts replacement of classroom AV equipment within 24 business hours.
• Perform preventive maintenance of installed TRADOC ECP classroom AV equipment.
• Assist on-site Government personnel with the daily operation of classroom AV equipment.
• Evaluating operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies.
• Develop installation plans and optimizing resource allocation.
• Create/update drawings in VISIO
• Planning and coordinating infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules and activities.
• Coordinating, overseeing and accomplishing installation of required equipment, cables, computer systems and associated facilities activities.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards.
• Preparing reports and compliance documentation.
• Install indoor fiber optic cable in large military structures
• Run, terminate, and test low voltage copper cable
• Organizing, dressing and labeling cables to industry standards
• Perform drywall, wood, and concrete masonry firewall penetrations
• Test and troubleshoot a variety of cable types
• Maintain cleanliness and safety on job site
• Determine solutions to any problems and issues that are preventing the Ethernet or fiber optic systems from performing optimally
• Provide support and direction to technician helpers
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering preferred or additional experience in lieu of degree.
• Must be able to travel 70-80 percent of the time. Telecommute during none travel times
• At least 10 years of experience as an Audio-Visual Installation technician or in a similar role.
• Experience with AutoCAD, VISIO and MS Office preferred.
• Knowledge of the system integration process and operating principles.
• Knowledge of relevant equipment coding requirements.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Project management skills.
• Possess a valid state issued driver’s license.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Currently there is no security clearance requirement. The successful candidate must successfully pass a T1 investigation. US Citizenship is a requirement at this location.
Physical Demands:
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 80 pounds, kneeling, standing and walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, and must be able to work under deadlines.
